Major Update

Wow it has been a while. Here's a little update on my life...

I have been working at Channing Hall since school got out. I love the kids, they are so fun. Last week for teacher appreciation week every teacher in the school got their door decorated by the PTA.....except for resource. Even the librarian and janitors got their doors decorated. It was a little disheartening. BUT our students love us and look at what they did...

Nothing says "special education" like our door......(is there usually an L in resource? And my name.....Maddisin?) They're cute though, very funny.

So what else have I been doing? Oh, RUNNING. I have been running a ton lately. I've been training for the Teton Dam Half Marathon. It has been going very well. It all started out with the Race for the Cure in Salt Lake which was very fun....

The good news is that I ran 13 miles last week! So I'm totally ready for this marathon. Next up...The Park City marathon.

The run I did last week...covered a lot of distance...

The map for the Dam Half

Also, we went to Lake Powell last weekend. It rained most of the time.....but it was fun. We certainly won't forget this trip.

We did have some sun...

And.........Joe got married today.

Soooooo life is good. I'm lovin' it. Hope you guys enjoyed this blog.

Midnight 5k

Last night we ran the midnight 5k!

First, lets reminisce about last year.......

Oh I miss these girls very much. One's in Russia, one's in Washington, one's in Hawaii, and Haley was there (not pictured) and now she's living in Texas and is going to have a baby in a month! But this year was great too. See....

Our wonderful cheerleaders! They drove beside us the whole way blasting music

Coolest shirt ever! "If you lead a good life, say your prayers, and go to church, when you die, you will go to Idaho." Thanks mom.

Guitars Unplugged!

So here it is. I finally fulfilled my dream of performing at Guitars Unplugged. It has seriously been something I've wanted to do since the first time I saw this show. And now I have done it!

It was so awesome. We were the second band to play and at first I was really nervous as I saw all the people coming in (there was probably about 3,000-4,000 people there!). But then the show started and while I was standing backstage getting prepped with my mic and stuff they started with a huge light show, and the crowd was going wild! Then I got really pumped and excited to go! I loved it so much, I can't even tell you.....

Anyway, here's the video of us. My roommate got scared to really film it because they told the crowd not to film, so she pointed it down so you can hear us. And at the end you can see the whole stage and stuff, it's pretty cool. So..enjoy!

Sunday 15 March 2009

This weekend I sang in my first show! It was so fun. I found this band that I think I might continue singing with. We had a show last night off campus and next week we have another show, playing one song, for Guitars Unplugged on campus. It is a blast, these boys are really fun and talented!

I just learned all of these songs (5 of them) either on Thursday or Saturday right before the show.

Here's a video of one of the songs, Burnin', that we performed. This one is one of my favorite songs! I love the country/bluesy feeling to it, plus I get a solo :)I'm sorry that the harmony sounds so off. I swear it wasn't like that live, but maybe it was. Some of the notes just make me cringe. The main singer wrote all of the songs that we performed. They're really fun.

Also, I was privileged enough to have my mom, Anna Sophia, and Grandma and Grandpa come up and visit/watch me!

Anna Sophia had no idea what she was doing in this picture. Some people put her up to it and I thought it was so funny, hence my eyes being closed in laughter...
